Taking a week away from Perth. I have been playing with textures, blending modes and various twiddling tricks, Had no plan or design in mind just experimentation with the purpose of learning and achieved a lot of disasters.I am putting up 5 that l thought were not totally crap, a couple l even liked. Please just give an honest reply if you think they are garbage just say so, critical review welcomed.

It looks like it has been printed on cotton. Not sure that I liked it at first, but it grows on me the more I look at it. So all in all, IMHO, a good effect
zed: Thanks Sheila, there are some that l didn't particularly like but my wife did so l included them just to guage reactions
Not totally my thing, but crap is not the word that comes to mind either....
What I do really like is the contrast between the background and the flower...
I think in agree with Sheila..it grows on you
zed: Wait for the week to be over you may change your mind and thats a good thing as l am trying to see what is liked and disliked
Lovely Tony! The only thing is that I would have painted out the effect in the heart of the flower, to get a bit more sharpness back in. Now the center of the flower is only a yellow blob, bo shadow or detail left. You can easily recover the details with a layermask on your texture layer, and painting it back with a soft black brush at a low opacity
I love that you are twiddling around wth textures, looking forward to more!!
zed: Some of them will come down to a matter of taste, one l only included because my wife liked it. I had a lot of fun PPing though. thanks Marion
its a nice shot, Zed, and it looks like you did a good job with the texture. Although I have to say I am not the biggest fan of textures, at least not too often. I think it just depends on the subject.
zed: It might be a long week then Charles . This was an exercise for me to learn another aspect of photography and l am trying to gauge peoples likes and dislikes. feel free to dislike them, one of them got in because my wife like it...l know l didn't
It's something I've never tried as it is is of real interest to me. However, I do like to see what can be done and in this case it seems to add to the image.
zed: Thanks Alan, just had time on my hands and a desire to tinker
I find it to be very original, Tony. It really does look as if it has been printed on heavy textured paper stock. I like this one. Looking forward to seeing the others.
It looks good to me Tony..If your after perfection..what would that be..because you wont please everyone.
zed: hell no Ron, there's no such thing as perfection, we can always do better. This was just an exercise, one of the images this week only got in because my wife liked it...I certainly didn't
